Terms and Conditions for tuition at Poynton Drum School

At Poynton Drum School, we strive to maintain a fun environment, but we also have to handle important matters, such as our Terms and Conditions. We aim to create a fair and positive space for our students and tutors. Therefore, all students (or parents if the student is under 18 years old) who enroll in lessons must consent to our Terms and Conditions.

Enrolment and Fees

When you sign up for lessons at Poynton Drum School, you agree to book a weekly lesson slot with a tutor, and payment is required monthly. Poynton Drum School will provide all students/parents with a Direct Debit form, which must be completed and set up before the first lesson. Late payments may be subject to a 5% late payment fee.

Lesson fees are subject to annual review. New customers will receive a payment schedule, illustrating your monthly set fee.

Cancelations and Absences

If you miss a lesson, we cannot offer refunds or credit notes due to the costs associated with paying the tutors and reserving specific lesson slots.

Tutor Absences (Site-based lessons)

If the student’s tutor is unavailable to teach, Poynton Drum School will attempt to arrange a cover tutor. If we cannot arrange for it to be covered, a catch-up lesson will be offered.

Leaving Notice Period

Please be aware that we need a minimum of one month’s notice if you wish to discontinue. This is to avoid unused lesson slots caused by students not informing the school of their departure. Please note that there will be no refunds for monthly Direct Debit payments; if you leave halfway through the month, you will not receive a refund for any lessons scheduled for that month.

Termination of Agreement

A decision to discontinue lessons, or change length or frequency, may be taken by the Student/ Parent/Guardian or the Tutor, in which case (1) one month’s notice shall be given by either party. In the event that the Student discontinues lessons, the Student/Parent/Guardian will be liable to pay fees for those lessons during the notice period.

A final bill will be sent to the payer, accounting for any lessons in the notice period. Due to monthly fees being averaged throughout the year, you may find that you’ve received more or fewer lessons than paid for to date so that adjustments will be made in your final bill per our attendance record.

New customers have a cooling-off period of 30 days starting from the day they take their first lesson, during which they may choose to terminate lessons without the need for a further 30 days’ notice.

Collecting your child/children

At Poynton Drum School, your child’s safety is our top priority. However, our tutors cannot take responsibility for children after the lesson. Please ensure you arrive promptly to collect your child/children once the lesson ends. You are welcome to use our waiting area during the lesson if you wish.

Communications

All customers are required to have a valid email address as all correspondence is sent out to the customer by email.

It is the customer’s responsibility to inform us of any changes to their contact details. Poynton Drum School will not be held responsible for missed communications, late/overdue payments, missed lessons, etc. if this is due to incorrect contact information.

Changes to the Terms and Conditions

The Terms and Conditions described above are agreed upon upon enrolment and may be changed at any point by Poynton Drum School without the customer’s notice. A copy of the Terms and Conditions will always be available on our website and may be emailed to the customer on request.

Notes for Guidance

The Tutor understands their responsibility to have relevant insurance in place to teach members of the public and have children in their care.

It is important to note that while a Tutor will use his or her best endeavours to ensure the student makes satisfactory progress, this cannot be guaranteed. In particular, careful regular practice as the tutor advises is a pre-requisite of success on a musical instrument.
